Birth Registration

1. The Birth Certificate can be provided to an MRP applicant or someone having a Bangladeshi passport but does not have Birth Certificate and intends to have it. In order to process Birth Registration by this High Commission, the following should be done:

2. Requirements for Birth Registration:               

   a)  Duly filled in Birth Registration form. Please click

        You need to take a print out of the form and fill in the same manually.

   b)  Original Bangladeshi passport along with photocopy (page 1-7).


   c)  One recent passport size photograph.


   d)  As for child – (i) his/her detailed Birth Certificate issued by the local authorities (where
        parents name and details are included) and (ii) Parents’ Bangladeshi original passports
        along with photocopy. 


3.  Fee (non-refundable):
 £3.00.

4.  Receiving of application: The application is received at the counter between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (Monday-Friday) and between 10:00 am -12:30 pm (Friday). 

5. Processing time: The Birth Certificate for the MRP applicant will be provided along with the MRP. In case of others, the processing time for Birth Registration is 3-4 days.

6. Delivery time: Between 2:30-4:00 pm (Monday–Friday)

Death Registration

Requirements for Death Certificate:

a. Passport of the deceased person;

b. 2(two) passport size photographs;

c. Death/Medical certificate issued by local health authorities;

Power of Attorney

Power of attorney service can be availed by either of the following methods:

a. Signing the power of attorney documents in front of the Consular Officer of Bangladesh High Commission; or

b. Signing the power of attorney documents in front of a solicitor/Barrister/Notary Public/Commissioner for Oath, and letter, attested by Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO)

NB: In case of obtaining the power of attorney regarding land property in Bangladesh, the doucment signed by the High Commmission must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka before submission to the concerned Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office.

Requirements for signing the document before the High Commission's Consular Officer:

a. Applicant's pyhsical presence at the High Commission is necessary;

b. Before coming to the high Commission, the document must remain unsigned;

c. The executant must present a valid Bangladesh passport. British-Bangladeshis who does not have a valid Bangladesh passport must present his/her British passport with 'no visa required' stamp on it.

d. One (01) copy passport size photograph for executants and one (01) copy of passport size photo for attorney.

e. Original and / or Photocopy of proof of relationship between the applicant/executant(s) and the person to whom the power of attorney is given ( passport/Birth Certificate/Marriage Certificate/etc.).

Requirements for signing the documents in front of solicitor and etc.:

a. One (1) photograph of each executant must be endorsed with the document by the solicitor/ Notary Public/ Commissioner for Oath;

b. After signing in front of solicitor, the document has to be taken to Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) legalization section for authentication of the solicitor;

c. After authentication by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) the documents are to be brought to the high commission for signature by high commission official;

No specific form is available for power of attorney;

Delivery time : Same day after one hour from submission;

Fee (Non-refundable): £12.

Attestation of Documents

We attest different kinds of documents that include, among others, educational certficates/marksheets/transcripts, marriage certificate, birth/Death certificate, marital status certificate, guardianship certificate, Police Clearance Certificate, commercial documents, bank statements, Power of Attorney, translated documents, etc.

 

To have your documents attested by the High Commission, all your documents must be attested by either the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka or the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK. Documents originated in Bangladesh the document must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka while the documents originated in UK, the document must be attested by the Legalisation office of the Foreign and commonwealth office, UK.

To obtain the attestation of a photo copy of the original document. Applicant should submit the photocopy along with original copy.

For signature attestation , the individual must come in person with valid passport and a passport size photograph.

Commercial documents duly legalised by concern Ministry/Office are attested by Commercial wing of the High commission ( 4th Floor, Room-25) Telephone-02075840081 Ext.-212/247.

Police Clearance Certificate

The Police Clearance Certificate for the Bangladeshi citizens residing in abroad is issued from the respective Police Station in Bangladesh. The applicant can apply directly or through nominated relatives to the concerned police station of the permanent residence. An applicant may also apply through Bangladesh High Commission in London.

Requirement for Police Clearance Certificate:

1) An application addressed to the Superintendent of Police or Police Commissioner of the concerned district (according to the permanent address of the applicant). A sample of the application is available here.

2) A photocopy of passport duly attested by the consular officer of the High Commission, London. Applicant must submit the copies of passport that bears the particulars of the applicant. Expired passport will not be accepted.

3) Main copy of treasury chalan worth Tk. 500 in favour of code 1-2201-0001-2681 from any branch of Bangladesh Bank/Sonali Bank (home and abroad).

4) If necessary, the police authority may ask for additional documents.

 

Submission of Application through Bangladesh High Commission, London:

You need to submit the above mentioned documents to Bangladesh High Commission, London if you wish to process your application by the High Commission. The High Commission would subsequently forward the application to the Police Headquarters via Foreign and Home Ministry, Bangladesh. Please note that this is a lengthy and time consuming process.

Service by post:

1. Send all relevant documents as mentioned for different consular services

2. Postal order/Bank Draft payable to Bangladesh High Commission, London (No Cheque Acceptable). For postal service payment is not refundable.

3. Applicants are requested to provide necessary contact number in the application form. This helps consular services to meet necessary query from to the individual , should there is any others individual's submission of application form.

4. Self Addressed next day delivery special service envelop for U.K / Postal charge should be enclosed with separate Postal Order/Bank Draft for Republic of Ireland, which should be minumum £10. If the weight of the package is more, then the postal charge should be according to the weight.
