 Questions Related to Bangladeshi Passport

1.  How can I  obtain a new Bangladeshi  Passport ?

 You can obtain a Bangladeshi  passport on following circumstances

       (1) When all the pages of  existing Bangladeshi passport has been exhausted.

       (2) When  the passport is damaged.

       (3)  After the expiry of 10 years from the date of issue.

       (4) When the existing passport is lost.

       (5) When passport for a children of a Bangladeshi father (after endorsement in

              father's or mother's passport) is required.

        (6)  On receipt of dual nationality certificate

 2.  What are the documents  I need to submit to get  a Bangladeshi passport? 

      Following documents are required

      (1) Existing Bangladeshi passport 

      (2) 4 copies of passport size photographs ( 1 copy to be attested)

      (3) Passport application form duly filled up

     * Please note that more  additional  documents will be  required while applying for new passport against lost passport, new passport for children born in UK and dual nationality certificate holder

3.  What additional  documents are required   to obtain new passport against lost passport?

    In addition to documents mentioned in para 2 above following  documents are required

       (1) 2 x additional photographs

       (2) Lost report from police station

       (3) Photocopy of previous passport or Bangladeshi birth certificate or any documents proving Bangladeshi identity

        (4) A certificate or letter from a responsible person (Imam of a mosque, councillor , GP etc.) proving Bangladeshi identity

4. What are the additional documents requirement to obtain Bangladeshi passport for a child of a Bangladeshi father ?

      The documents are

      (1) Birth certificate of the children showing father's and mother's name.

      (2) Valid Bangladeshi passport of the father.

      (3)  Passport of the mother or father (If the name of the children has  been previously endorsed in father's or mother's passport) 

      (4) Other documents mentioned in para 2( i.e, 4 copies of photographs, passport application form duly filled up ) are also to be submitted

5.  What documents I need to submit when I apply for new passport with dual nationality certificate ?

     The documents are

     (1)  Dual nationality certificate

     (2)  4 copies of passport size photo graphs

     (3)  Passport application form duly filled up

 6.   Do I need to be present at the high commission while applying for new passport.

      Not always. Only the applicant requiring new passport against lost passport are required to be present . They would be interviewed by the high commission official before accepting their application.

7.   How many photographs are required to attested while applying for new passport and who can attest this?

     Only one copy is required to be attested.  Any GP, Councillor. Imam of mosque can attest.   

8. What are the processing time for new passport ?

     Urgent passport  is processed in  5 working days while normal passport is processed in 10 working days. (This processing time is not applicable for lost passport applicant)

9. How much time is required to process for new passport against lost passport?

     Lost passport application is processed through Bangladesh. Immediately after the accepting the application  it  is forwarded to Bangladesh for police verification. On receipt of positive police verification , the applicant is asked to deposit the fees. After that  processing time as mentioned in para 8 is followed. In case police clearance is not received within 21 days. the high commission may issue a temporary Bangladeshi passport with 2 years validity.

10.What are the fees for new passport?

      Urgent Service (64 pages)  115 pounds

      Urgent Service (48  pages)  106pounds

      Normal Service (64 pages)   75 pounds

      Norma  Service (48  pages)  70 pounds 

11. How can renew my Bangladeshi Passport?

  Bangladeshi passport can be renewed after completion of 5 years from the date of issue.

12. What  are the documents requirements for passport renewal

    Existing Bangladeshi passport

    2x passport size photographs

    Passport application form duly filled up

13.  How much I need to pay or renewal of passport

           (1) Child's Birth Certificate showing  parents name
           (2) Bangladeshi Passport of father and mother
           (3) 2 x  Passport size photograph of the child (1 copy to be attested, if child 
            cannot be brought to the High Commission
           (4) Filled up passport application form
           (5) Existing valid passport
 
15. What are the documents requirement for  replacing father's name by husband's name in the passport
             (1) Registered Marriage certificate
             (2) One copy of passport size photograph
             (3) Filled up passport application form
             (4) Existing valid passport
 
16. Once I  change  my  Profession , what documents I need to change the same in my existing passport ?
            (1) A letter from the Employer or the Institution
            (2) One copy of passport size photographs
            (3) Filled up passport application form
            (4) Existing passport
 
17.  What documents I need  to change my names or other information of the passport.
            (1) Affidavit in  support of changes/ correction duly legalized by solicitor  to be
             enclosed
            (2) Or, Any valid document which substantiate and support  the
            changes/correction acceptable to concerned officer
             (3) Filled up passport application form
             (4) Existing Passport .
 
18. If  an entry has been made incorrectly by consular staff , how can I correct it ?
            (1) Intimate immediately any mistake in entry by officials
              (2) Submit the passport with copies  of application or receipt
              ( Necessary correction will be made by the high commission 
              (2) Correction due to official error is done free of charge 
 
19. What are fees  required for endorsement or correction ?
      a. Urgent  Service £ 53

Questions related to  Visa exemption or "No visa Required to Travel to Bangladesh"

1. Who are entitled to receive visa exemption (No Visa)?

   Bangladeshi origin  Foreign citizen holding both Bangladeshi passport and Foreign passport and their children and spouse.

2. What are the requirements to obtain Visa exemption (No Visa)

   Visa Exemption form duly filled up

   1 Copy of photograph

   Bangladeshi passport or previous Foreign passport having Visa exemption (No Visa)

 3.  If my children do not have Bangladeshi passport  how can they obtain No Visa?

     The children can obtain No visa  if their father or mother has Bangladeshi Passport. In addition the birth certificate of children showing father's and mother's name  has to be submitted.

4.   How can I obtain No Visa for my spouse?

       Foreign wife of a Bangladeshi husband (having both Bangladeshi and Foreign passport) can obtain No visa by submitting their marriage certificate and other documents mentioned in para 2. How ever same is not applicable for foreign husband of a Bangladeshi origin wife.  

 5. How much fees are required for Visa Exemption (No visa)?

    32 pound

6. How much time is required for processing Visa exemption (No Visa)?

    It is same day service

7. Do  I need to transfer my Visa Exemption (No Visa) when I have new passport and how much  I need to pay for this?

    Yes. Fees are same i.e. 32 pound.

Questions related  to travel permit

1. What is Travel permit ?

   Travel permit is a  document  issued to Bangladeshi nationals who for some reason are not in possession of their Bangladeshi passport but want at return to the country . It can be used only  in one way and it is valid for 45 days from the date of issue.

2. What documents are needed to apply for a travel permit

    The documents are :

      Copy of Bangladeshi Passport

      Lost report from police

      4 copies of photographs

      Certificate on Bangladeshi identity from any prominent persons e.g.Imam , Councillor, GP etc.

3. Can I obtain travel permit by sending my documents through post or by agent ?

    No. You have have to come physically in the high Commission. Travel permit will be issued after satisfactory interview by the high commission official.

4. What is the processing time for travel permit

    Urgent Service  24 hours

    Normal service  3 days.

5.  What are fees for travel permit

      Urgent fees  £ 16 pounds

     Normal fees   £ 32 pound

Questions related to power of attorney

1.  What are procedure  to sign power of attorney documents

             Power of attorney  documents can  be signed  by either of the following method.

      a.  Signing the power of attorney documents in front of the officials of Bangladesh High commission.     

                                      OR

      b,  Signing the power of attorney  documents in front of a solicitor.

2 What are document needed when I  sign  the power of attorney  in front of high commission official

      a.   Unsigned power of attorney documents.

      b.  Valid  Passport

      c.   Photograph   1  copy

      d.  Fees    12 pound

3.    What are  the  documents   for signing power of attorney  in front of solicitor

    a. Signed documents  with a seal of  of a solicitor

    b. Authentication of the solicitor by Foreign and commonwealth office (FCO) legalization  section  

   c. Fees   12 pound

4.   If  I sign the power of attorney documents in front of high commission official, do I need to sign it by solicitor.

     No. If for any reason you cannot come to the high commission then you should sign it in front of a solicitor  who will intern counter sign it.

5. Do I need the signature of FCO legalization section if I can come to the high commission to sign the power of attorney documents?

   No

6. Is there any specific form for power of attorney

.  No. There is no  specific form for power of attorney.

7. What is the processing time  for power of attorney?

     Same day service

Questions related to Sponsorships

1. What are documents requirements for Sponsorship ?

    a.  Filled up application form

     b.  One copy of photograph  of the person who is going to be sponsored.

     c. Valid passport of the sponsor.

2. What is fees and processing time for sponsorship

  .  Fees  are  5 pounds and it is same day service.

 Questions related to Visa for Foreigners

1. How do I apply for visa to travel to Bangladesh ?

     There are different categories of visa issued from Bangladesh  High Commission. Requirements of documents  for each category  are not the same. However the common documents for all categories which are to be submitted for visa processing's are : 

      Duplicate copies of  visa application form duly filled up

      3  copies of passport size photographs

       Valid passport

2. What  additional documents other than those mentioned in  para 1 above   will  be needed  once I   apply  for  tourist visa  ?

  No additional documents are needed

3. What  additional documents other than those mentioned in  para 1 above   will  be needed  once I   apply  for  Business Visa ?

   A letter from any business organizations in UK endorsing the eligibility of applicant.

   A letter from invitation from  any Bangladeshi organization mentioning applicants amen and passport number.

4. What  additional documents other than those mentioned in  para 1 above   will  be needed  once I   apply  for   NGO visa  ?

   A letter from concern NGO in UK

   A letter from concern NGO in Bangladesh

   A  sanctioned letter from NGO Bureau in Bangladesh

5. What  additional documents other than those mentioned in  para 1 above   will  be needed  once I   apply  for  Employment visa  ?

    A letter from employer

A sanction letter from relevant ministry/Board of Investment/Export processing Zone.

6 . What  additional documents other than those mentioned in  para 1 above   will  be needed  once I   apply  for  student visa  ?

    A letter from concern institution certifying the admission

    Bank statement

7 What  additional documents other than those mentioned in  para 1 above   will  be needed  once I   apply  for  official  visa  ?

   Note Verbal or  official  letter from concern Govt office

8. If  I am not a British citizen but have  valid visa to stay in UK , can I  apply for visa to travel to Bangladesh ?

 Yes

9. What  are  the fees for visa ?

   There are different categories of visa fees.  For British passport holder  the fees  are:

     Single entry : £40

     Double entries : £52

     Multiple with 3 entries : £75

     Multiple with 4 entries : £104

 10. How do  I pay the visa fees/

   You can pay the visa fees by debit/credit card, postal order or bank draft. But no cash payments are allowed.

11. Can I get the visa service by post?

   Yes. But for this you need to submit the required documents along with self addressed envelop with required stamp.
