- Studied in the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, 1971-1976. Obtained B.A.
(Honours) and M. A. degree in Economics.
- Joined Bangladesh Foreign Service in March 1979 as a career diplomat.
- Awarded Asia Foundation Fellowship and did Post-graduation M.A. in Law and
Diplomacy from the Fletcher School, Tuffs University,

1980-85 : Desk
Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Appointments included Foreign
Minister's Office, Protocol, SEA Wing, Organization & Management
desk.
1987-90 : First
Secretary in the Bangladesh High Commission Colombo.
1990-94 : First
Secretary/Counsellor in the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, KSA.
1994-95 : Director
in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Appointments included Staff Officer to the
Foreign Minister, Director for South East Asia and Far East,
Consular, Legal & Maritime Wings.
1996- mid 2000:
Counsellor and later Minister (Political) in the Bangladesh High Commission,
London
2000-02 : Consul
General of Bangladesh in Hong Kong.
2002-04:
Director-General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka. Appointments
included Director-General, Europe Wing and
Director-General (Administration).
March 2004 to July
2007 : High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia.
08 August 2007 :
Assumed duties as High Commissioner to UK.
