reflected in the independent country in many ways though there is
no room for complacency. Bangladesh, as a nation, has made great strides
in achieving success in several sectors such as increasing food production,
sustainable economic growth underpinned by spectacular growth in export
and remittance, a diminishing dependency on foreign aid, significant
success in human and social development, empowerment of women and
growth of a vibrant civil society. As a leading contributor to UN
peacekeeping operations, Bangladesh's proactive role in promoting
global peace and stability as well as the leadership in poverty alleviation
and micro-credit entrepreneurship has been well recognised by the
International community. This positive trend is sure to continue in
the years ahead towards attaining a modern, medium-income and technology-based
country by 2021 envisioned by Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

the known orbit of historical links and burgeoned into a strong trade
and investment partnership. The presence of a huge Bangladeshi diaspora
in UK is a permanent link between the two countries. Britain is today
