Welcome Message from the
High Commissioner
I have the
pleasure to welcome all potential users to the updated website of the
Bangladesh High Commission, London. The site is designed to act as a
window for basic information on Bangladesh and the services offered by
the High Commission primarily focusing on the consular information and
basic facts and figures of the country, society and economy.
Bangladesh has made commendable socio-economic development despite its
known constraints of a huge population in a small territory and its
vulnerability to natural calamities. Our development partners view that
Bangladesh has undergone a silent revolution in terms of transformation
of its people and society moving into a higher trajectory of economic
growth and social development. It’s success in addressing poverty and
empowerment of the poor, particularly women, spectacular growth of its
RMG and textile sector, integrated communication networks of roads and
mobile telephony in the rural Bangladesh, have all contributed to the
process of transformation.
Bangladesh – Britain bilateral relations have also made a big leap
forward beyond the orbit of historical links and burgeoned into a strong
trade and investment partnership. The presence of a huge Bangladeshi
diaspora in UK has enriched our growing ties. Britain is today the
largest foreign investor and the third largest export destination for
Bangladeshi products. Bilateral economic indicators between the two
countries are growing at an exponential rate.
As you browse through the website, you can discover Bangladesh, its
peoples and culture; its achievements and potentials. It will also lead
you to a host of useful public and private sector links with focus on
trade and investment opportunities, on news and media, tours and travels
etc. which, we hope, will facilitate the growing nexus of the people and
institutions of our two countries.
While welcoming all potential users to glance through the site, we also
welcome any suggestion for its improvement to make the site
user-friendly, attractive and more informative.
